Chuck Coursey has called West Hartford his home since 1966. He was three years old when he arrived on Cliffmore Road with his parents and four older brothers after a cross country move from California. He attended Bugbee Elementary School, graduating in 1976, followed by Kingswood Oxford (class of 1982) and the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA (Class of 1986).
Chuck has spent much of his adult life involved in West Hartford Civic affairs. He served three terms on the Town Council and was deputy mayor during his last term. He was a leading advocate for the development of Blue Back Square and chaired the Town Council’s construction oversight committee for the project.
He currently serves as Vice Chair of the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, Chair of the West Hartford Commission on the Arts and Trustee of the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History. Chuck also serves on West Hartford’s America 250 Planning Committee and its Revolutionary War Campsite Preservation Subcommittee. He is an Emeritus Board Member of Playhouse on Park and has previously served on the boards of the West Hartford Public Library Foundation and the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society.
Professionally, Chuck is President of Coursey & Company, a public affairs firm focused on strategic stakeholder engagement & education for important policy issues.
He and his wife ( and business partner) Mary have five adult children. Through Trout Brook Tales , Chuck explores the stories and history of the West Hartford community he’s been part of for nearly sixty years.
